The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education Volunteerism Recognition Initiative

The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education (GPFPE) is delighted to announce the creation of “Caught in the Act of Giving Back.”  This district-wide initiative will recognize student volunteer activities at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Established through the generosity of the Anne R. Hudson Fund for the GPFPE, held at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, “Caught in the Act of Giving Back” will recognize volunteer projects on the basis of leadership, a commitment to volunteerism and giving back, and community impact.  Principals of each building will submit projects for consideration. These projects will then go through an independent committee selection process chaired by Laura Huebner, Special Events Chair of the GPFPE.

Winning projects at each level (elementary, middle, and high school) will be recognized each year during “National Volunteer Week,” with a plaque for their school and a financial award that will go to the organization that is the subject of the winning students’ volunteer project.
